5/12/08 - I just added a new portrait to the gallery. It is of an adorable little boy with a football dressed in his Grandpa's oversized football jersey.
4/30/08 - I am happy to say I finally have some original pencil art posted. I have others coming soon, this was just the first few that I managed to get great high res images of for printing. I found a great site, www.FineArtAmerica.com, that offers prints on demand, and awesome high res previews.To view a couple of my originals, and a section of my digital photography, visit my Gallery Shop.
Out of necessity of time, and not getting enough entries, I have reduced the contests down to twice a year. The current contest will start May 1st and run to December 31 2008.

2/29/08 - This month flew by fast! I still need more entries for the contests! I will keep the current entries active until enough are received.
Being a fan of the USA Network series Monk, I was thrilled when the started a fan art section at the beginning of February. There Monk fans can upload their art and rate pieces submitted by others. I submitted my pencil portrait of Monk, and was very pleased when it spent several weeks at number one in the Highest rated gallery. Be sure to go to the Monk Fan Art section and check it out along with all the other entries.
2/1/08 - A new portrait was just entered in the February contest. There were not enough entries to run a good contest in January, so some entries were held over. be sure and check them all out and cast your vote! Graphite Entries or Colored Pencil Entries

site for artists who take commissions for pencil portraits. Sites receive
and give traffic and are voted on their popularity. If you draw portraits,
please check it out. The sign up process is free and automated. A reciprocal
link is required, and no offensive content is allowed.

- This is the first news entry for 2008! The winner of the celebrity vote
was Nicole Kidman, so I will be starting her pencil portrait shortly. Check
back here to see my progress. When completed, her pencil portrait will reside
in the celebrity gallery. There is a new celebrity
vote list ready, so be sure and cast a vote! A
new portrait has been added to the pencil portraits gallery.
I
have decided to adjust the format of the contests slightly. You can now vote
to show your opinion of the entries! While these votes are not the deciding
factor in an entry winning, they do carry weight, so cast your vote now! Entries

Originally,
I wanted to create a web site to simply showcase my graphite drawings. I
had been inspired after searching on the web and seeing other artists featuring
their work. Realistic drawing is a talent I developed myself, and I had
already created portraits for family and friends to give as gifts. However,
I had recently graduated with degrees in graphic design before the site
was launched, I decided to expand it. I wanted to dedicate it to creating
both pencil and digital art from photos. It grew from providing just pencil
portraits from photos, to also offering digital photo services. These digital
services included photo restoration and colorization,
and digital paintings. After a lot
of planning and thought, in 2005 Pencils and Pixels Art was born.
The site has now expanded, as I always hoped it would, to offer other services,
including photo effects, photo
videos, and my original pencil art. I am
also hopeful that the newest addition, Pencil Art Central,
will become a place for all pencil artists to learn, exchange information,
and inspire one another.
I strive to provide excellent customer service, and look forward to serving
you.
